We are the Hub for the Culture but YOU are the Muse.
The Caged Bird DC, the new kids in DC’s popular DuPont Circle, combines the power of food, culture, and community to foster an environment welcoming of artistic expression and cultural exploration. Named in honor of Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and its impact on generations of change agents,” The Caged Bird DC curates diverse experiences in hopes that together, we can reimagine what’s possible for our culture and our community in DC and beyond. We’re providing customers with incomparable service, delicious food and drinks and an array of events, conversations, and performances in a space that feels like home. We’re invested in the growth and safety of our community, and it’s our goal that patrons become family and that they leave The Caged Bird feeling full, encouraged and empowered to bring their dreams and goals to fruition.
The Caged Bird DC is more than a restaurant; it’s a space utilizing the power of food, culture, and community to bring people together.
Whether it’s a celebration, a time of grieving or a moment of resistance, food, and culture are always critical parts of how our community engages and responds, and we’re drawing on that here at The Caged Bird DC.
Our inspiration from “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings can be found in our intentionality around curating opportunities for people to engage and experience art and culture in different ways. In moments like this where it’s easy to feel trapped and or powerless, we hope to create a safe space for people to reimagine what’s possible for our communities here in DC and beyond.
